Good Shepherd Hospice has been providing hospice service to Central Florida for the last 20 years. In 1994 we moved our offices to an old hospital, sharing it with other agencies. In 1997 we made a
commitment to start our residential center. Most hospice care is in the home. But when a caregiver is ill or there is no caregiver in the home a hospice patient has to go to a nursing home or the hospital. With our residential center they can more into a home like setting with all hospice care
available. We opened the first 7 room in January 1999. We are always full and have a waiting list.
Our dream is to take over the entire old hospital and convert it into a Hospice Center. The main feature will be the 21 residential rooms, libraries, education room (for doctors and health care professionals, a meeting area for community events... and more.
I thought you would like to see our vision for our hospice.
The overall view gives you a look "inside" the building. All of the rooms will face the lake. The entrance is inviting with landscaping and fountains. The typical room is home like... with the patient able to personalize! The large living area is for
families. We have a large kitchen where families can come in and prepare a meal and have a family gathering with the patient.
I will keep you updated on our progress.
