Time for the Son to Kick in!
I received my health insurance bill last week.
Up again! Seems like an
increase is an every bill event! Of course my employer pays it… but
unfortunately that is me! Over the
years we have cut the benefits and raised the deductible to save on the premium.
So now I pay everything until a real disaster strikes.
Fortunately a real disaster has not struck… but nevertheless I am
getting pretty ticked off at the ever-rising premiums!
And how about the reasons! They
say that health care costs are going through the roof!
They cannot prove that on what they have paid for me. But, I can attest to the fact that costs are going up!
When you write a check for every thing I get from the health care
industry up to a heart attack! When you do this you get a real understanding of
the health care industry.
I have decided that I have had enough!
Why should I have to pay? These
insurance companies are just gouging. They
are mean and all they want is a profit. They
say they have to pay for the research to develop these new drugs that save
lives. Everybody knows they just get lucky and they put it right in our ear!
Enough is enough!
It is time for my son to start paying off.
Sure he might be a little “tight right now” having just bought a new
house and still making payments on the old one.
He is trying to raise a family, save for the kid’s education, taxes are
as high as they have ever been, gas prices are out of sight, but both he and his
wife have good jobs. I think that they should chip in on this big bill for
dear old dad. It is only fair.
And while he is at it there are a couple more benefits that I would
like… like prescriptions, eye glasses, probably soon I’ll need a hearing
aid. Well for right now… if he
would just chip in on the prescriptions… I’ll ask for more later after he
gets used to paying for this new item.
Now how am I going to get him to go along with this idea?
That is going to be the real problem.
Can’t ask him outright, unfortunately for me in this situation, I did
not raise a dummy. If I tried the
direct approach, he would look me in the eye and say “Get outta here!.
You can afford it, you’ve got more money in the bank than I have!
Are you crazy? Hit the road dad! You
taught me to take care of myself, now I am telling you the same!”
Nope, the direct approach won’t work, got to be clever.
How about if I ask his employer to up the deduction on his paycheck?
Ah Ha! He might not notice
because his paycheck varies because of overtime… He probably is too busy to
look over each check and see what is deducted.
Perfect. I don’t have to
beg to get something for nothin’, he probably won’t be the wiser until it is
too late. Great…. Good for me and
he won’t feel the pain. Then I
can go back later and get a little more!… a little bit at a time.
I can keep on with my lifestyle… golf, traveling and the good life!
And he can go on keeping his nose to the grindstone!
Good character builder!
What? You
say this is the way the government does it and they won’t let me in on their
racket. No wonder they have a
surplus. They are smarter than I
thought.
I wonder how long it will work? It has been working for a long time. I guess there is no need
to change if it ain’t broke. So
how about the government doing it just one more time? One more dip in the “somebody else’s pocket to pay for
me” pool! Sneak in another bill
on my son and all the other sons and daughters of this country. Drip, Drip, Drip, they won’t notice. They are too busy living life to read the papers or watch
CSPAN to really know what is happening to them.
I can hold my head up high when we go to our children’s home. I won’t
have to write a check for those prescriptions and it won’t cut into my golf
budget, I can keep our second car and head out on the annual cruise.
America, what a country!
Who says there is no free lunch?
